This beautiful snare drum has been restored by Mr. Ryan Bennett.
The 4-hole Speedway Strainer is an AK Drums reproduction.
>> It's a transitional drum and appears to be one of the very earliest out of Elkhart. It has an Indianapolis top rim, Elkhart bottom rim, original bakelite grommet, 4-point Speedway strainer (thanks Adrian!), and appears to have been built out with an Elkhart Ludwig 3-ply shell. From everyone I've spoken with the lugs are thought to be prototype X lugs, as they are made out of aluminum. That's why the chrome is so bad on them. Other versions I've seen are simply polished Aluminum.
They original green pearl covering is in fantastic shape (and has a fabric backing!). There were two extra holes added at some point where somone put a P-85 on it. I lifted a piece of covering from underneath a lug and made two nice plugs (check out close up of strainer). One of my finest plug jobs yet! <<
